Now that turkey season is over for me I have gotten a little bit of time to do some fishing. Currently I am on Peaks Island for a kayaking class until the first so I cant do any freshwater. But I am getting the chance to do some salt water which is pretty cool. The water temp is 58 degrees currently in casco bay which is up 6 degrees from yesterday. Yesterday we kayaked for 4 hours all around peaks and little diamond and we didn't see any sign of fish any where. I think its still alittle early. I have heard reports of stripers up in the rivers chasing bait which is a good sign. Hopefully when I am back on land I get the oppurtutnity to get down to the portland area to try to catch a few. Last weekend I did get the chance to go on a quick trip to camp to put the water in and fish Grand Lake Stream with my dad. We timed it perfectly with a drop of 450 cfs. The fish were in teh river and they were hungry, I caught nine fish 6 salmon, two brrok trout and a bass. All the salmon were over 17 the biggest well over twenty. Stonefly and caddis nymphs did the trick with lots of weight to get them down deep.
