GLS
Now that turkey season is over for me I have gotten a little bit of time to do some fishing. Currently I am on Peaks Island for a kayaking class until the first so I cant do any freshwater. But I am getting the chance to do some salt water which is pretty cool. The water temp is 58 degrees currently in casco bay which is up 6 degrees from yesterday. Yesterday we kayaked for 4 hours all around peaks and little diamond and we didn't see any sign of fish any where. I think its still alittle early. I have heard reports of stripers up in the rivers chasing bait which is a good sign. Hopefully when I am back on land I get the oppurtutnity to get down to the portland area to try to catch a few.
Last weekend I did get the chance to go on a quick trip to camp to put the water in and fish Grand Lake Stream with my dad. We timed it perfectly with a drop of 450 cfs. The fish were in teh river and they were hungry, I caught nine fish 6 salmon, two brrok trout and a bass. All the salmon were over 17 the biggest well over twenty.
Stonefly and caddis nymphs did the trick with lots of weight to get them down deep.

Exam Time
Its exam time so we havent been posting as much recently but we have been out fishing a few times. All the small streams in southern Maine are fishing well and we have heard the fishing to our north is going well also. IN btween classes and on some weekends we have gotten out and hit some little rivers. We have mostly been catching browns, insect activity has picked up but the water is medium level and dirty meaning we have been throwing small streamers most of the time. In the eveings we get in to some rising fish. But even still its a sporadic rise.
Here are some pics of the last few weeks. Expect more posts in the coming days since exams end tomorrow!
